CD burning issues - unknown error 0x80004005

I have been trying to burn cds and about 2 minutes or less in, it stops and ejects the cd, saying unknown error 0x80004005. I tried slowing the burning speed down but no joy. Also, when I have been trying to print the song lists, it seems like it will print the wrong playlists as well. Any suggestions? I have a Dell laptop that is about 1 year old.

Yes, there would appear to be an issue burning from iTunes 12.7.2.x for Windows.

A workaround is to uninstall iTunes then download and install one of the following as appropriate:

Well, Harold I can help some with this. Have read many other answers on this sore subject. One of the ones that made it really easy was using Windows Media Player. You can import all your music there. Depending on how many files you have like me I had over 400 to import. It took maybe 10-12 minutes and that will depend on the speed of your computer. I had absolutely no issues doing this and I thought that the music actually played better. Could be me. No issues burning either after creating a playlist. I thought this was the best and quickest way and not waiting for itunes to fix this as I lost several CD's trying to burn them different ways. I also will continue doing it this way as well. Once you have everything there it's a piece of cake and any new music it's much quicker to import it. Good luck if you use this method.

Yes Sir! Just took your advise and am having NO problems with Windows Media Player and I think you're correct. It even sounds better.

This is still a bunch of BS on the part of Apple and when they get their head out they will will come up with a fix to the problem, I'm confident.

You see, I have over 17,000 songs in my files and most of them have been purchased using iTunes which, you would THINK, would have a bearing on treatment but................

Wow 17,000. Glad you had success with what I told you and with your thoughts about it sounding better. From what I gathered Apple has been very busy handling all the new items people received from Christmas and are still dealing with support on those gadgets. Here is my thoughts on it now that you agree it does sound better burning from Windows Player. I'll just keep putting all my songs in there as I get them and not bother doing it from itunes. I have the feeling that Apple is in no rush to make it right until they have time to get a new update out with the fix. I'll still get my songs from there and that is all they care about is the money from your wallet. Putting everything into WMP is a snap now as any new songs takes just seconds to load. Keep on burning LOL.

Having now spoken with various people at iTunes, it is clear that they have no interest in rushing to sort this issue. The last person I spoke to (about a week ago) stated that they were now aware of the problem and that their engineers were hoping to find a solution in the near future. They advised that I should keep an eye out for an update. I can’t believe that it is taking so long. Pull your finger out iTunes - you are taking far too long to sort an issue that I feel should have been relatively simple to fix (just don’t mess anthing else up when you send through the corrective update!).👎

Yes this update has fixed many problems, but the following still exist....

I have 100's of playlists that have songs that total just short of 80 minutes that I have been able to burn in the past. When I try to burn these now I'm told that the songs do not fit on a cd. So I'm unable to burn playlists that I have been able to burn for YEARS prior to the issues that arose in December update.

When I watch during the burning process I see the first song imported at the start and also at the end. I NEVER saw this before.

And the text put on the cd that is burned shows up on my car's cd player with the artist for song one different from the title for that song, even though the printed playlist appears correctly. Or I may not see an artist or song for the last cut even though it plays correctly.

Yes these are not as troubling as not being able to burn which has been temporarily addressed. But this latest version of iTunes still does not work the way it used to before the update in December which produced the iTunes error code.

I have no desire to reinstall iTunes, what I want is for the great Apple technical support group to give us ALL of the functionality we had before the madness that was created this last December.

Thank you.
