How can I recover my photo library?

Guys I accidentally deleted my entire photo library and I am freaking out!

I was saving frames from a video to the username/pictures folder, and after I added all the files to iPhoto I selected everything in that folder and sent it to trash, not realising there was also a file named Photo Library which must have contained all my photos because now when I try to open iPhoto it is completely blank. I emptied my trash bin and am panicking that I have lost everything.

Help!

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.2, macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

No back up?

If not, and that's a painful lesson learned, then

1. Forget getting the library back. The best you can hope to do is get the photos back and start over.

2. You're going to need an app like File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.

There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store. They all work the same way, and no, there are no free ones.
