Why is corebrightnessd using over 100% of CPU usage?

User uploaded fileI was wondering why my Macbook Air was running at around 70+ ºC during idle, and i checked activity monitor, and well i saw that corebrightnessd was using at around 121% of the cpu. My laptop was at 69ºC and the fan at 5300rpm. I tried to quit the process but it kept on coming back then i opened the information tab and saw that kernal task(1) activated it and i quit that, and my laptop just restarted, what even is corebrightnessd, and why does it use over 100% CPU usage?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)
