why won’t my phone perform a back up after purchasing more iCloud storage?

I’m not able to perform a backup b/c it’s telling me that I don’t have enough storage even after purchasing more storage. Please help?

See the "Check to see how much iCloud storage you have" section in:

Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

If it shows less than the storage you believe you purchased, then try signing out of iCloud, restart your device, and then sign back in.

Thank you for your response. So I did your recommendation & an error popped up saying that some files couldn't be viewed so to try again later. & now if I go back into it to look at it it does state that I don't have enough iCloud storage to back up this phone. I have 37.5 GB of 50 GB used - so how is this not enough storage? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
