Use Canadian store credit to buy U.S. content while in U.S.?

I have a Canadian iTunes account with a store credit. I will be traveling to the U.S., will I be able to buy U.S. content using my Canadian store credit?

There are books that are on the U.S. store but not the Canadian store.

I've noticed that when I travel, I have access to the local country store.

I want to know if I'll be able to use my iTunes credit on the U.S. store.
