Factory unlocked to locked when sim was ejected

I was trying to reset my unlocked phone and removed my sim after doing the reset. Now when i put my sim back again, "SIM INVALID" is popping up and i can't restore any of my files now. Please help.

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 11.1

Did you purchase the iPhone from Apple directly as an unlocked phone? If not, did you process an unlock request through the carrier who held the lock? If not, then it was hacked to function as unlocked and the restore you did has done as it always will and restored the original carrier lock.
