How do I turn off my discovery mode on Bluetooth

Question

I have an iPhone 6s plus running iOS 11.1 if that helps any just trying to turn off being discoverable on Bluetooth

When you turn Bluetooth on, that makes the device discoverable. If you don’t want that, turn Bluetooth off in the settings.

Oh ok so jus wondering what does discovery actually mean does it mean people can connect to my phone threw Bluetooth also
