Hi EmmaW23,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

You mention that some messages you send are staying at the bottom of the conversation. Do you see an indication that the messages are not being sent, like a red exclamation mark or the words "Not Delivered"?

If so, try the following from If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch :

If you see a red exclamation point

If you try to send a message and you see User uploaded file with an alert that says Not Delivered, follow these steps:

  1. Check your network connection.
  2. Tap User uploaded file, then tap Try Again.
  3. If you still can’t send the message, tap User uploaded file, then tap Send as Text Message. Messaging rates may apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

If not, you can try these troubleshooting steps from the same Support article:

Try these steps first

  1. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need to have a cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
  3. Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
  4. If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
  5. Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact.

If none of this troubleshooting resolves the issue, more information might help us come up with additional steps to try:
  1. Does this happen with all contacts?
  2. Does this happen with iMessage conversation(s)?
  3. Does this happen with SMS conversations?

For help with the difference between iMessage and SMS, see About iMessage and SMS/MMS.

Sincerely.
