imac fan keeps going on

The fan on my iMac (late 2014 running High Sierra) keeps turning on when I visit certain websites. They are news websites. I could be running nothing else but Safari and the fan will turn on. I notice this happens on sites that have a lot of video on the pages but still, should the fan be going on? The machine is in a cool location. I've run activity monitor to see which site is using the most CPU and sites like world new daily (wnd.com) almost always trigger the fan to turn on. The fan also sounds like an old diesel motor too. I have called apple care multiple times about this and they've not had a solution. We've run all the usual diagnostics including pulling power cord out and restarting. I've run EtreCheck but can't seem to see anything unusual. This started happening a few months ago. I also experience random shut downs that I cannot explain. I keep my iMac in a very cool area. I recently upgraded to High Sierra but this problem happened before that install too.

I hope someone can help here.

The hard drive situation I had ended with the HDD melting and I lost the program and dang it all if they all don’t look the same to me today. That one (fanny widget) I listed comes from the website OS X Daily so it should be good enough.

Side note if you do a hdd upgrade that can cause issues similar to what I experienced.

Earlier I missed the other part you posted. After reading it I blame adobe Flash. Let just go with that. You might check and see if there is a flash update. Could have been a bug in the last update that caused it?

When the Mac goes to sleep the processor may keep running for a period to finish cooling down whatever is still warm. So it may also be worth checking out a temp monitor program too.
