Hi. When you use the Apple Digital A/V Adapter, the screen is converted to an H.264 video stream, and sent to the Adapter, which generates the HDMI signals from that. You cannot control the resolution of the video stream, or of the resulting HDMI signal. And there is no docking station. So the Adapter is the best you will be able to do. Sorry.
