apple pay visa or master card
When I ask to use Apple Pay, why do merchants in Singapore, like Starbucks for example, always ask me whether it’s Visa or Master?

Because they do not understand how it works. Certain point of sale systems ask for that info and they are separate from the card reader. Sometimes the card reader and the Point of Sale are one system but sometimes they are not.
