iPhone + iPod both erased with synch today

I wanted to add a playlist to both my iPhone (5s) and iPod Classic today. Until today always worked perfectly. Settings are to synch only checked stuff, which on my iTunes still shows up as checked.

iPhone was erased, still shows up on the iTunes when I click device as what I want ....just doesn't actually sync anything.

Crazy enough, so was the iPod. Completely erased. Everything is checked, just doesn't sync anything when I click sync now.

HELP?

Hi mysteri,

I understand that you are unable to sync music to your iPhone or iPod Classic. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

I recommend that you turn off syncing in iTunes using the steps in the article below:

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support

Turn off syncing in iTunes

  1. Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
  2. Connect your device to your computer using the included USB cable. Your connected device appears as an icon in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window. Learn what to do if you don't see the icon.
  3. Click on the device icon User uploaded file .
    User uploaded file
  4. Under Settings on the left side of the iTunes Window, click the content type for which you want to turn off syncing.
  5. In the main iTunes window, uncheck the box next to Sync. All of that content type will be removed from your iOS device.
  6. Click the Apply button to save your sync settings.

Once this is done, you can turn on syncing again and attempt to sync the music to your devices.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
