Pages will NOT print entire document

This must be, yet another High Sierra bug. (as complicated as downgrading will be - downgrading will be worth it)

Anyway, I'm under pressure to get a document out tonight - it's only 15 pages (and I've printed this many times before - before installing High Sierra anyway) - but tonight every time I try to print I only get pages 1 through 9 (even though the computer indicates, quite clearly, that it intends to print all 15 pages). I really don't know what to do, or what I should do, or even how to take the next step toward troubleshooting (what should be utterly trivial). This kind of nonsense is SO Microsoft Windows.

Yeah, anyway, if anyone knows a work around for something that should be ultra simple - printing a document - then let me know. Geez.

Fact one - I've printed this document many times with zero issues the past over a time span of 12 months - possibly more (prior to upgrading to High Sierra)

Yes, I tried printing pages 10 through 15 (that was the very first thing I tried - hours ago)

Yes, I exported to PDF and printed from the PDF - exact same issue pages 1 though 9 print - and 10 through 15 do not print (that was interesting).

Regarding elements of document - see "Fact one" above.

This is seriously stupid - and something I'd expect from Microsoft Windows - not Apple. Whatever. Driving to Kinkos is will be faster than dicking around with High Sierra (huge mistake upgrading to High Sierra - I will never upgrade or update again - my trust is gone).

I'm sorry I'm in such a foul mood - I need to get this done before I go to sleep. It's for work.

Have you tried:

  • printing only pages 10 to 15
  • Printing all, but clicking PDF and choosing Open PDF in Preview (then printing from there).
  • (depends on what elements the document contains) Copying the content of the unprinted part of the document and pasting it into a new Pages document, then printing the new document.

None of these are intended as a long-term solution, but as a workaround that may get you past the current crisis.

Once that is passed, please use the Provide Pages Feedback item in the Pages menu to report the issue to Apple. Here, you're talking with users of the software like yourself.

Barry

Okay, fine, it'll be a late night trip to Kinkos/FedEx to print an ultra simple document - something High Sierra / Pages can't do anymore. It can't be any more lame. I'll make a YouTube video showing how pathetic High Sierra/Pages is. I don't care what the issue is at this point - I just expect a computer to be able to print a document - ESPECIALLY a document I've printed many times before. Never had a problem until installing High Sierra. This is ridiculous.

Break down the problem.

What Printer are you printing to?

Do you have an Alternate Printer to try?

What happens when you print to pdf (not to paper), how many pages do you get?

Have you tried a generic Printer instead?

Have you gone to the Can't-Be-Named-For-[fill_in_blank]-Reasons printer's manufacturer's website to see if there is a later Printer Driver?

Yeah, sorry, I misread your question thinking you were saying the elements of the document could interfere with printing. I was in a panic last night (work related) and SUDDENLY something that worked dozens of times before just quit (again, I cannot emphasize enough how this is very Microsoft Windows).

Anyway, I never tried that method because I've already printed my document (drove to a store and printed there - far, far easier than dicking around this utter nonsense) Also, even if copying a portion of the document worked - I'd have a propagating issue - the page numbers will not be correct. Yeah, sure, maybe I can have a work around for the work around - for the work around. (Microsoft Windows)

The answer is to design a computer and software with the ability to print a simple 15 page document. But, since I'm not getting a paycheck from Apple to troubleshoot their systems or inform them there is a bug - I'm not really interested in investigating. I'm interested in getting my work done. I need to print a document. It's 2017 - not 1992.

Apple can't print documents. I've printed my document without using Apple. Problems solved. Case closed.

As I've said before - I had zero issues with printing this same document and that really makes me suspect High Sierra.

I have had many issues with High Sierra. (things like basic security, cursor constantly freezing, and bizarre flickering). High Sierra seems to be the Windows Vista of macOS. What a dreadful mistake it was to upgrade. Like I've said, I'm not planning on updating anymore. I'm sick of going from everything working to 10 random and mysterious time wasting problems.

Nothing was broke with Sierra - so, I'll be reinstalling everything back to Sierra - and I bet that'll fix the printer too.

I'll post the results soon.

Cheers!

Quit with the judgmental attitude simply because I didn't do what you would have done. Spending endless hours troubleshooting something that worked yesterday (all because of an update) is a waste of my time - and a very one way of thinking. It's just a simple document needing to be printed. I printed it. Problem solved. Apple is more interested in their cell phones anyway.

I am as critical if not more critical than you of Apple because I know where the bodies are buried.

To print to pdf and to a generic printer will take you less than a minute, but all you wanted was to complain.

If you can't be bothered, you get what you get.

Peter

...and you never bothered to tell us what the printer was, which may well have been the problem.

Dec 22, 2017 6:05 PM in response to PeterBreis0807

As stated above - I have no interest in troubleshooting. I have a low tolerance for BS in general - and a really low tolerance for updates that break something that was already working. As for the printer - it isn't my problem - and therefore not an issue. I have an M452dn - BTW

I was just hyper annoyed with High Sierra - the cursor freezing constantly throughout the day has me permanently **** to begin with. Every other BS occurrence that can be traced back to High Sierra makes me verbally lambaste Apple. That process will continue until there is change (revert back to Sierra, get a Linux machine running - or whatever).

This is what happens when people spend $10k on Apple products only to find out that, in some ways, it isn't a whole lot different compared to the Microsoft Windows crap.

That is why we ask (repeatedly).

That is actually a HP Laserjet Pro M452dn and you are in Australia?

There is a later Printer Driver.

Try installing this (check you actually have the one for macOS 10.13 High Sierra):

HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

I understand your frustration and anger, but I don't understand not doing the obvious tests and ignoring the suggestions.

Peter

btw I have not upgraded to High Sierra because I look before I leap.
