iPhone 6s plus very slow AFTER battery replacement

Hi there,

I have a 17 months old iPhone 6s plus. It was always working perfectly well and fast (even after having it for more than a year). The only problem was that the battery didn't last as long as it used to, so I had it replaced at an official apple reseller store (iPhone Clinique Lausanne). The moment I got my phone back, it was extremely slow and when I scrolled trough a document or website, it got stuck all the time. Also opening apps took very long. The lower the battery level got, the slower my phone got. Below 10% it was completely unusable. After a week, I returned my phone and had my battery replaced again. Now it works ok (still not as fast as it used to with the old battery), but when the battery level drops below 10%, it practically stops working. The guy who repaired claims that this has nothing to do with his battery replacement, but this is definitely not true as it worked perfectly for 16 months, and the moment he changed the battery it stopped working. Definitely no coincidence!

What do you think the issue is? A bad replacement battery?

Thanks,

Samuel

Yes. I'm going to guess it was a bad battery. I can find absolutely nothing to indicate that the shop you took it to is actually an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Take it back to them. If they are not an AASP that is certified to work on iPhones, they have permanently forfeited your right to have it serviced by Apple. Apple does not sell iPhone parts, including batteries, to unauthorized service providers.

This will likely be a combination of battery and software. Apple have allegedly introduced a feature in their software (linked to above) whereby it slows down the phone as the battery degrades in order to preserve battery life (stupid idea if you ask me)...

The replacement battery you got is likely not great and so the software sees it as such and slows it down.

Thanks god i'm not the only one facing this annoying problem. I got a 6s Plus too and replaced my battery days ago. Beforce the replacement it was doing great with a Geekbench score at 2600 Single Core and 4500 Multi Core. After the replacement i dropped down to 900 Single Core and 1700 Multi Core, which is equal to the... iPhone 5!? What's wrong with this? I also tried to restore over and over again but it didn't help at all. Come on Apple!!!
