Newly received iPhone messages show above sent messages

We have had the problem i think since the last software update. Its causing marital strife. When you realise they have replied but its hidden further back in the text conversation.

Pls Sort this out

What the heck is going on with Apple? My entire family has this same problem. Not the phone, not the app, its the blooming UPDATE folks. Get to work Apple smart guys and gals.

Same issue. iPhone 6S user here. Constantly happening from my wife’s messages who has an iPhone 7. All on the latest iOS update. Super annoying!

My take on it is that Apple's "updates" have some code in them to purposely slow them down, drain the battery faster, and cause minor inconveniences that irritate users until they decide to upgrade.

I tried just turning off and on date and time, which did not work. But this worked! Thanks!

This appears to be working for us too. Much appreciated - I will reply if it reverts to the old behavior...

Why don't they just come right out and say that ALL OLDER PHONES ARE MEANT TO BE OBSOLETE?

I just followed these instructions and it has helped with the conversation that was the issue. For me it was happening when I was texting and the person replied immediately.

It was short-lived. Although not as often as before, it has gone back to displaying replies above my texts. Still not a 100% fix.

I have talked with many many people and this is happening across everyone’s phone.. messages are not coming in proper order and missing messages .. please help
