The haptics on my home button have become intermittent and the function of the button itself has also become intermittent. When I try to select a different haptic response the phone often restarts spontaneously if I select '2'. The phone has suffered no physical damage. And before anyone suggests I go to the Apple store or Genius Bar, there are no Apple stores in New Zealand.

i'm having the exact same issue right now. My alarm didn't even go off this morning and i was late for work. Like, it did go off, but it made no sound. On my way to work i tried playing music on spotify, and it would lag out and reset my phone. I tried running a timer to see if it'd make a sound, and it didn't, it just has the notification of "Timer done" coming down from the top, but no sounds or vibrations. It's not just haptics that's gone, it's the sounds, vibrations and basically any non visual interphase for the user that's gone. I can still go on apps and text people, but anything that goes beyond visuals, it'll lag out or just not have any effect whatsoever.

Have any of you come up with a solution to this? It started on me about 2 weeks ago. Major lagging, no haptic or sounds from main speakers, random restarts. There’s no water damage or body damage. If I do a hard restart, it’ll work for a few minutes and then go right back to the way it was. It’s really frustrating and I hate how apple pretends like the issue doesn’t exist.
i am having this exact issue. Do i just have to wait it out? ridiculous. i have restored a few times but still no go.
Mine came back for a bit, then died again, too. Quite interesting that software can permanently break a phone.
How do we get more attention from Apple on this? I'm doing a backup now and will try the recommended steps, but doesn't sound like it is going to help from your experience.
I have no idea; it is a bigger systemic problem that the refuse to admit ANY problem is of their making. Social media? Though I tried that too!

Did you get any joy from visiting the Apple Store about this problem? I'm thinking of going in this week myself.
In the end I had to mail my phone to the original store in the US and they gave me my money back.
I'm heading into the Genius bar this evening (here in Australia). I hope they can sort it out.
Did anyone reach a solution to this issue other than actually throwing off the phone or replacing it?

I have an iPhone 8+ on 11.3, and I just ran into this problem. None of the fixes recommended appear to be working. It is definitely intermittent and very detrimental to using the phone.
I got the exact same problem in Hong Kong. I am using iPhone 8 with iOS 11.3.1. Quite frustrated of getting this problem, I paid for the phone but apple didn’t treat me as a customer seriously..
