Battery life on mouse and keyboard bad.

Hi all,

I moved from a PC to IMac about 2/3months ago and changing batteries in my eyes is too much.

I had a wireless mouse and keyboard on my PC and i think i changed the batteries maybe twice, or 3 times a year. This is with rechargeable batteries, as well as the ones from the "pound shop" in the UK

I brought a pack off AA zinc 1.5v batteries about a month ago (10 in pack) and have put 4 in the keyboard and 4 in the mouse.

I know both are Bluetooth, but shocked on how long they are lasting.

My Imac is auto turned on at 8am and turned off at 5pm. This is a home set up. I would say that i used it for no more than 4 hours. Mostly job hunting, posting on some websites and shopping.

I had a problem a month ago of the mouse always disconnecting, so solve that by removing the Bluetooth pst

is there some setting like it goes into standby mode when not in use?

I put batteries in the keyboard Xmas day ( 2 days ago) and says 88%

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13)
