Apple never shortens product life intentionally?

Recent quote from Apple: “First and foremost, we have never — and would never — do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades," the post said.”

You mean like making it very difficult for people of average technical skill nearly impossible to replace the battery and not using a generic battery form factor?

Sure, Apple might not intentionally limit the battery life but you limit how long someone might be inclined to keep an old device given how expensive it is to replace the battery given the relative battery replacement cost for other devices.

Water resistance has only been an issue since iPhone 7. I have an SE i’d Like to keep as long as it can accommodate new IOS versions. I don’t care about water resistance; I do care about performance and battery life. I know a lot of people who like their older handsets too and have the same concerns. For me, upgrading is about size. If they could make a X in the 5s/SE size, I’d probably buy it. The more recent ones aren’t as convenient to operate one- handed.

Do you have anything critical to say about Apple?

Certainly. In regards to the matter at hand, I've said in a number of threads that Apple could have done a better job explaining what they did. I'm still unhappy with some of the changes they made in the Apple Watch. They removed features I liked. I've also commented on other features that they removed from the iPhone that I really liked. I stopped complaining about Apple dropping support for Hypercard a long time ago because it didn't do any good. But, in the end, it's just a phone (or a watch. or a computer). It's not worth raising my blood pressure over. I submit my feedback to Apple and figure out what I need to do to make things work the way I need. If Apple ever made changes to the iPhone that gave it more minuses than pluses for me, I'd get a different brand of phone. Slavish brand loyalty is, in my opinion, foolish. The fact that I don't feel some sort of whorshipful adoration for Apple makes it a lot easier for me to remain sanguine about things they do wrong.

What do statements like this have anything to do with the subject of this thread? Positive or negative responses do not inherently alter the validity, accuracy or relevance of anyone’s response.

Or gratuitously tossing in Mr. Jobs name when he has been dead for 6 years and again, has nothing at all to do with this topic?
