Refund for batteries replaced prior to January 2018?

I had to replace my iPhone 6 battery last month because it was becoming unreliable. The battery meter would drop for no reason and the phone even shutdown a couple of time even though the battery meter had shown 20% or more a few minutes earlier. I could not no longer trust the battery/battery meter so I went to the Apple store. They checked out the phone and battery and said both were fine. I insisted that they replace the battery because the phone was becoming unreliable. I had to pay $79 plus tax. The phone with the new battery has been working fine. The issue all along was likely their throttling software screwing with the battery/meter.

Will Apple backdate refunds for all battery replacements that occurred after they pushed their throttling software in early 2017?

I just spoke with Apple and they are getting ready to put out an updated message that says we are going to get the $50 refund, if you purchased the battery on or after December 14, 2017. I called 1-800-275-2273. Was on hold for a while, but finally got a nice young man, who in turn put me intouch with a very nice young lady - that took my information, verified my battery purchase and has set me up to be refunded the $50. I hope this helps everyone.

Just got off the phone with Customer Relations. As of today, officially,. there is no plan to refund customers who had their battery replaced prior to 12/14/2017. However, it was provided they are keeping track of the number of customers calling in inquire about this issue. I imagine if enough people call in, Apple will push back the refund window even farther. Encourage people to call in so Apple can see how many are affected!

I call Apple support to inquire about a refund. They transferred me to customer relations where I spoke with Cody. He said as of 31dec Apple had not released any guidelines for dealing with any possible future refunds. Maybe closer to the end of the janguidance might come out. He took my phone number and email and said he would reach out to me on a weekly basis to keep me up to date. I would suggest everyone else in my suitation call Apple and do as I did so Apple will know we are waited for news.

I had my iPhone 6 battery replaced on late October 2017 due to IOS 11 made my iPhone 6 unexpected shout down, short battery life... etc. I pad $79 plus tax which I wasn’t really happy about the solution for resolving the issue. My phone was fine before upgrade to IOS 11. Almost 2 month later Apple made announcement to reduce battery cost to $29 instead. I contacted Apple support and ask price adjustment, the reply from other end was the same to everyone... “come back in Mid January for further updates.”

I contact Apple support today I even reach to Apple senior Advisor regards to price adjustment. The end result from Apple is very disappointing. Apple will not give me the refund because my battery exchange action was done before Dec. 14 2017.

This is really unfair for the customer who suffered battery problems due to IOS11 system and forced to pay $79 instead $29 before they made the price announcement on Dec. 28 2017. Apple are not providing refund for customer who pad full price $79 before Dec 14 2017 which I believe this is unfair trade.

I was in the same situation. We had my wife's iPhone 6 battery replaced in Calgary for C$99 on Dec 27. (And it did totally solve the performance issues I was seeing, even though the Genius Bar tech said the old battery was fine.) I came back into the store a couple of days later and asked the store manager for a partial refund. He said he was confident that the central AppleCare support people would be putting together a policy/program to do refunds for situations such as mine, and advised me to wait a few days and then call them. He also said that if they didn't take care of me, he would.

I called AppleCare and they did refund me the difference, but it was a bit of a lengthy and painful process because for some reason they couldn't process a refund back to me credit card. Instead they wanted to do an international bank transfer (they people I was speaking with were in Texas, I think). Of course, Canadian bank accounts are formatted differently from US bank accounts, and they couldn't figure out how to format the SWIFT message properly at first, so the payment failed. All in all, it took multiple phone calls and emails, and several weeks, but eventually a payment from Apple of C$67.20 appeared in my bank account.

So, if you haven't called AppleCare yet about a refund, you should do so.

I had the same thing, called them up today and they said no. I had mine replaced on 9th December. Not even a week before the now decided cut off. It's outrageous that they can admit a fault and cut the price by £54 and then say anyone before this date isn't eligible.

Just spent 2k on a new macbook too. Makes you think twice about ever using apple.

The battery in my 22-months old iPhone6 bulged and pushed the screen outwards until the case separated. The gap was up to 3 mm.

Browsing the web, this seems to be a known problem with the iPhone6, but Apple refused to recall or even replaced batteries after 3 months. The exception was the iPhone6s battery that Apple recalled for a short period of time because it was shutting the phone down at random. No such luck with the iPhone6, and it will cost you either $299 for a refurbished iPhone6 or $79 for a new battery if you find a friendly store manager. ‘Genius’ comment about the bulged battery was ‘you need to upgrade’ ! So I paid the $79 early December 2017, two weeks before Apple announced a $29 battery replacement campaign for the iPhone6 following the ‘aging battery slowdown’ fiasco. I just asked last week whether I would qualify for a refund of the $79-$29 difference, and the answer was ‘no … so far'.

Totally agree I’ve complained in UK yesterday I got the excuse that the faults only relate to reports in December, I said when I reported the same problems in September there were hundreds if not thousands of reports all over the internet and I said I want all my money back for the new battery I bought because there is now proof that under the UK sales of goods act the battery was not fit for purpose which now it’s obvious it wasn’t. I’m waiting the outcome so keep fighting everyone it’s an injustice that the little battery is priced up at £79 anyway as we say in the UK it’s a rip off

i too had the same problem as you. installed OS 11 in october and immediately my battery started draining. lived with the issue for a month and replaced the battery for $79 on november 25th. have spoken with apple customer support two times now to find out what is so magic about the december 14th date. neither person could answer. even asked to be transferred to a manager. they held firm to the party line. don't understand apple....everyone knows there were battery issues as a result of OS 11. when my phone started, i googled it and it was everywhere on the internet. very disappointed in apple with their handling of this issue. i just might have to join one of the class action lawsuits because of their lack of customer service/support with those of us who couldn't wait till january 2018 to get a replacement battery.
