Home with funny (frightening ?) folder names
iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11)
You have Photoshop installed? One version of that definitely did this in the past. Harmless but annoying.
Thanks, both of you.
With EtreCheck I saw that my old 2011 account was cluttered with a lots of old stuffs, also CS5 stuffs and ActiveGS Safari extension that may be incriminated for those folders ...
They seem to be gone although they were not harmful.
Sorry Terence, will give the point to John so he stay on course with you 😉
Please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support.
They probably will not be generated while running in Safe Mode. Make that determination then reboot normally.
Their appearance is not normal but you knew that already. They are being generated by something you installed. What that is only you can know. If you don't know and don't know where to begin, consider using this tool: https://etrecheck.com/
If it doesn't mean anything to you, consider posting its contents in a reply to this Discussion. I may or may not be able to help interpret it.
Ok, I got an idea.
Is there a way to track which application or services create those folder ?
terminal, console, third party software ?
Thanks
I guess ActiveGS is a better candidate ...
Thanks but I would never have thought to suspect Photoshop. Now I will 🙂
