Intel HD Graphics 3000 support on High Sierra is broken

Some graphic elements are replaced by black areas in applications like Mail, Finder, Safari, etc. using a MacBook Pro early 2011 with the integrated graphic card.

I observed the problem in at least 4 different applications, most being official Apple software.

The more critical is Mail, you just can't read mail at all.

Note that all worked properly on Sierra.

Switching between graphic cards resolve temporary the issue:

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 Mo: ISSUE

AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1 Go: NO ISSUES

Using the native Apple LCD profile: PARTIAL ISSUES (may appear temporarily, etc.)

Using personal calibration profile: ISSUE

Using third party calibration profiles: ISSUE (vary according to the selected profile)

Note that the issue can be partial and may appear intermittently as when using Spaces, for example. Switching between spaces (with 3 fingers using the trackpad) lets appear temporarily the issue in some area.

Some people had this problem with the native color profile.

Some of them, solved the problem using the Calibrators software that you can find in the preference panes.

You can avoid the issue in Mail disabling the conversation mode (Organize by Conversations).

You can find some details on MacRumors forum:

Seems like negative media articles about a bug light a bigger fire than any quanta of bug reports… 😉

We got an article in one of the biggest French magazine about Apple news:

Someone tried with 10.13.4? It seems to solve a certain number of graphic bugs.

... given my issues/problems w/high sierra, i've adopted your approach across all my machines (2012 mini w/1tb ssd, 2012 mbp 15" retina 16/768ssd, and my new shiny 2017 imac 5k 64gb/3tbfusion).

i have a standard installation of software that is minimal on the host machine ... EVERYTHING else goes into a VM ... no exceptions ...

i spent an entire week in early march rebuilding my machines from scratch and locking them down ... no more ...

😟. We need people with write access to most popular tech. and business resources. We need an article to blame Apple about not supporting hardware which is officially supported. Nowadays Apple don't care anything except their Stocks price. So, we need lower down AAPL somehow a bit, then the things will changes. Nothing else will help, I think.

Yep, 8+ months since the report date. I even twitted to Phillip Schiller about this and, of course, trying to ask in bugreport.apple.com. The very fresh answer (got it few minutes ago) still the same: "The original report on this issue, Bug ID 33881845, is still under investigation. We will notify you when it is closed." While Apple has its fun on WWDC regular professional users should be in pain.

Yesterday I investigated the root of the bug and wrote a program to patch ICC profiles to make it compatible with High Sierra. I want offer it to everyone as a service: 10 USD per ICC profile. I tested it with my internal display's calibrated profile, no issues so far, black boxes are gone :-). Anyone interested? Email me then. Contact info at www.Emelchenkov.pro.

Your proposition is awful.

You offer nothing you just ask for payment.

We don't have any proof that your affirmation is true. And you price is very expensive.

A lot of good app are below 10$ and work without limitation. And there is also all the freeware / open source community.

At this point, no money for you from me.

I really hope that you will propose something more reasonable and more user-friendly that I could use it when I want and how I want.

For your information, I started the thread, so yes, I do know what calibration profile, software and devices are.

Custom software development will cost me nothing, I will not pay for that. You can be patronizing with me and making irony with a Steve Jobs that as nothing to do here, but you are not helping. At best, you are selling.

It is pretty clear that this computer generation is in its end product life and is already declared obsolete by Apple. More this generation is even not supported in the next version of macOS : Mojave. We can regret it, but the only choice we have is to buy again or not at Apple

For those who need to work here and now, it is already possible without you in most of cases due to the fact that the issue is very specific.

I will not pay several tens of dollars while solving the issue cost me 3 mouse clicks.

Finally, I understand that you worked and that you want to earn money, but charging so much to have the Wikipedia logo displayed well, yes, it is expensive. And if you do not agree with that, deal with it, this is not the seller who decide if this is cheap or not, but the customer.

And I am even not talking that we have no certitude that you are not a scam.

I wish you sincerely a lot of sales, and I hope that you will change your mind and release it for free. Not because your work worth nothing, just because as I said before, I will not pay that much and not in this terms.

To finish, I will give you a free advice.

Do not patronize and do not make irony with a potential client and especially not in front of other customers : this is bad for business.

To finish, I want to say you will not get it even for 1000$ because I do not work with toxic customers. You are not a potential client for me. You named me a scammer twice (after that I usually don't speak with people at all), you said you will not pay (OK, I heard, why to repeat again?), you give me so useful "free advices" (take it to yourself, man) :-D. Proceed with 3 clicks on Wikipedia, please, but not here. I absolutely dislike your attitude, goodbye.
