$29 battery replacement available now?
I've seen the announcement on all the Tech Blogs. $29 to replace your iPhone battery (if the device qualifies).
If this available now? I want to do it through Best Buy rather than an Apple Store. Thanks.

To correct this (80% or less) statement based on recent information, $29 battery replacement is granted without meeting any diagnostic test—as per Apple.
You are correct. But the post from romad was also correct when it first was posted on January 3. Apple changed the policy after that. You have made a valuable contribution to the thread, however. Now I'll try to make one: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support. Near the bottom of the article is a link to make a battery change appointment. It lists all of the options based on your location, and it includes Best Buy and a couple of other service providers, in addition to Apple stores.

When you log onto Apple Support and chose the battery replacement option and then select take it to the Apple Store, when you then go to Make an Appointment for your zip code, Best Buy is listed as an option in addition to Apple Stores in your area.
Best Buy can't do it. They are not authorized to service iPhones. You must go through Apple in the US.
If you make an appointment for battery replacement be sure to confirm they have the battery in stock before you go. I received a generic email "We would like to share some information with you regarding your upcoming support reservation at Apple Mall of America." I called support and they told me most stores are out of batteries. Glad I did not waste my time going to the appointment.
Apple - PLEASE do a better job of managing your inventory for appointments that have been scheduled specifically to replace a part, such as a battery. As a manufacturer with retail stores this should not be that difficult! C'mon, I know you are smart enough to figure it out.
FYI - I made an appointment to get my battery replaced but when I got to the store, they told me they were out of batteries and it would be a couple of more weeks before they would get more in. Apparently they've been selling the battries to people who walk in off the street and forsake the people who thought they were going through the proper channel (by making an appointment).
Apple is not handling this battery replacement issue well.

I know someone who had their screen replaced by Best Buy. And their site advertises repair service for iPhones. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/geek-squad/apple-authorized-service-provider/pcmcat 748302046186.c?id=pcmcat748302046186
But you're saying to have my battery replaced for $29, I need to go through Apple?
Interesting... They must have managed to get it reinstated. Their authorization was revoked a number of years ago. Perhaps they managed to re-certify with Apple.
As for the price, you'll have to ask Best Buy if they're honoring that. Personally, there is no way I would let the idiots at BB work on anything.
Apple has a diagnostic tool they run on your iPhone 6 and newer to see if it qualifies for the $29 battery replacement. In order to qualify your iPhone must have 80% or less battery lifetime (NOT CHARGE) left. Does anyone know if we can get that diagnostic software from Apple or maybe there is a third-party application that can do the same thing? AFAICT, the software available on the App Store consider "battery life" as the same as "current charge life".
Hi
Always usually apple store or authorised apple repairer.
If you get a 3rd party repair then we or Apple cannot help you Any warranty is totally void & your touch I'd will no longer work.

Not all Best Buys - my nearby Best Buy isn't listed
No, not always. BTDT, and the closest Best Buy listed is about 75 miles away; the one 20 miles from me isn't listed.
Went I went to the apple website to make an appointment (with Best Buy) for a 15 minute battery replacement on my 6s, I had no reason to believe that when I took the time to drive into Best Buy that this is not what was going to happen. Instead, I got a whole lot of NONSENSE!
First, after standing in the Geek Squad line for 1/2 hour, I had an idiot tell me (new battery in hand) that I had to leave the phone there for at least a day, then maybe, I can go back and pick it up another day.
What kind of crap is this? I left, angry and upset at the total garbage I just took. I'm upset to begin with that I have to have this battery replaced because of Apple's fraudulent updates causing the power drain to slow down the phone, in their attempt to get me to purchase a new iphone. Then, after Apple says no problem, we'll just ask that you have us replace the battery at a low cost of $29, and everything would be fine.
Well, to make matters worse, The day AFTER my appointment date, I get an email from another Geek Squad Moron, explaining the procedure. I make an appointment, drop off the phone, go through a 40 minute consult, then if qualified leave the phone there and pick it up another day. WHAT KIND OF HORSE **** IS THIS?????? (If I had received that information when I went to make the appointment on Apple's website, I wouldn't have had to go through all this!!!
I've been defrauded by Apple, moused around by Best Buy. This convoluted battery replacement program is nothing more than an attempt by Apple to discourage the battery replacement and force it's customers to purchase new phones and at ridiculous prices! NO MORE APPLE, NO MORE BEST BUY!
P.S. Samsung Galaxy S8 has never looked better! I'll just need to ween myself from IOS!
.
I think Apple is causing the battery drain on iOS 11 for the purpose to sell more batteries and they assume they are giving a discount. To note that this is not a battery issue, it is related to the iOS itself.
A Message to Our Customers - Apple
That is great to hear! So now all I have to do is to go into an Apple Store before December and ask that my iPhone 6 battery be replaced?
$29 battery replacement available now?
