iPhone X camera lens crack

I was outside in extremely cold weather and noticed that my rear camera lens had cracked.

Took it to Apple and was told I still need to pay $99 to have this repaired. Has anyone else had this issue?

My IPhone X has the same problem a small horizontal crack near the flash. It has been secured in a case since day one. Never dropped not once. This is and apple design flaw not a damage issue. You would expect after paying $1200 for a phone Apple would admit the problem and offer repairs free of cost. Very disappointing, at least others in the industry admit when they make a mistake and try to rectify it.

Ditto here! I have the 256 and use it with extra care and never taken it out of the case. Went to Apple Store yesterday and after wasting 2 hours of my time they quoted me $549 to replace the phone. Based on all the complains in this thread, it seems to be a design flaw or weak glass. I wish more people speak up so Apple can have a fix or free replacement.

I had this same occurrence. Apples employees in the Chicago (Michigan Ave) store told me that I need to pay 550 to replace the entire unit because of the breakage of the glass. Here is how mine went down. I came inside from the cold weather, went inside where it was warm. I took my IPhone X out of my pocket (no keys or anything else) went to set it on my counter top and as I was setting it down felt something jagged on the back of the phone. Turned it over and noticed the glass was broken around the lower lens. If Apple truly cared they would look into this by taking these phones back to study them. Apple Care should be something that applies to me and those of you that have IphoneX AirPods, HomePod,3-IPads ,2-MacBook Pros,iMac 27”, 6 Apple TVs, 3 Airports. ETC. I’m as loyal as a customer can get and shouldn’t be treated like I’m trying to get something for free. I’ve paid the Apple tax over and over again.

Let us know how that goes. I also started with online chat and was optimistic that Apple would have a reasonable solution. Then, I was told at my Apple store that the manager has no power to deviate from their policy. That is pay $580 for a new phone (no Apple Care) , or live with the crack. I paid.

Yesterday I received a 500 dollar check from Visa consumer protection for accidental damage, but I am still out 80 bucks!

With Apple care I would be out 300 dollars, cost of plan plus 99 dollar 'repair' which is a replacement phone. Because there IS no repair.
