How do I GRADUALLY change the speed of an audio clip while simultaneously affecting pitch?

I'm using Logic Pro X. Basically, I have an audio clip that will be playing at a certain speed, but then I want it to sound like someone slowed it down gradually on a turntable to a slower tempo. And then I want it to keep playing at that slower tempo. I want pitch to be affected as well as speed.

I've tried to achieve this effect using flex time and the speed option, but I have not found a way to make changes in speed gradual, and not abrupt.

I am NOT looking for the slow-down option that comes with the fade tool because that slows the audio all the way down to a stop.

I want this effect to be clean and artifact free. After all, I'm affecting speed and pitch simultaneously.

I hope there's actually a way to do this in Logic. Thanks.

I was surfing around the web and I found a solution, although it doesn't make for the most smooth workflow. Basically I can assign the sample to a MIDI note on the EXS24. And then I can control the speed using pitch bend MIDI. I can set the value of max pitch bend in the EXS24 to be as high as I need it to be and I can write in automation for the pitch bend. The downside to this is that if I have to start the sample all over again if I want to hear just a part of it and I will probably have to do this many times while I write the automation. Nonetheless, this does accomplish exactly what I wanted.

brendanwhiteman, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, it seems the sliding time scale/pitch shift tool in audacity still adds artifacts even when you match the speed change % to the tempo change %. I've known Audacity's "change speed" tool to be transparent so I made a comparison. In the sts/ps tool, I tried a static 50% in both values and then compared to Audacity's "change speed" tool at 50%. The sts/ps tool definitely sounded worse than the "change speed" feature. It's a shame because this is definitely how I would do it if it weren't for that.
