Driver update needed for Canon MX410 Printer on High Sierra (10.13.2)

Hi all,

I've always assumed newer operating systems offered backward compatibility for old drivers and software. However our Canon MX410 all-in-one is no longer working, even as a printer.

Canon say they will not provide a driver for High Sierra, making the printer in effect defunct.

Is there a way round this? Driver from a different Cannon printer mayber?

Printer still works fine on Windows and I'd rather not restore to Sierra or earlier operating system.

Thank you all.

The Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for OS X was released in July 2017. It has support for the Canon MX410 Series. This download, according to Apple is for Mavericks (10.9) through High Sierra. Give this a shot.

  1. Download and install this Canon Driver package
  2. Reboot
  3. Power on your printer
  4. System Preferences
    1. Printers & Scanners
    2. Right-click on the printer entry and select Reset printing system…
    3. Click the + button to add back the MX410

      Select MX410 or MX410 Series

  5. If you are lucky, the printer will be back as a multi-function device

If you are required to use a Canon printer application to utilize the multi-functional capabilities of this device, and Canon no longer offers that application support for High Sierra, you may only have a printer.

The other solution is to host the printer on Windows, and network share it with the Mac.

Thank you Viking.

Just tried your suggestions using the Bonjour driver and the Canon IJ driver available.

No luck with the Canon driver.

The Bonjour driver managed after numerous attempts to print a test page but keeps 'pausing' and wouldn't print a test pdf I sent, always going back to being paused.

I've got Windows on a virtual machine that I can use but it's a phaff and I'd rather things just worked (one of the old selling points about Apple).

If you or anyone else has any ideas I'd love to know please. Otherwise it's buying a non-canon printer for me.
