Apple INC Call from Austin, TX

I just got a random call today from Apple to talk about a recent chat I had with one of their customer support advisors.

Can someone tell me if this is a legit Apple number?

+1 (512) 674-2000

The Apple Employee on the other end of the phone had my exact serial number and I want to make sure this isn't a scam.

Even if that is an Apple phone number it wouldn't prove that is where the call really originated. Personally, I wouldn't be concerned as long as they were not requesting personal information. The following from Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support may also help. You can click the "contact us" link in the excerpt below if desired.

Scammers spoof phone numbers and use flattery and threats to pressure you into giving them information, money, and even iTunes gift cards. Always verify the caller's identity before you provide any personal information. If you get an unsolicited call from someone claiming to be from Apple, hang up and contact us directly.

The Employee asked me to read the serial number, and I asked if he could read it to me for safety purposes. He also had my phone number to call me, email address, and the state I live in. I would like to assume this was legit. He didn't ask me to download anything or go to any websites, only to do a few tests on my phone that required no more then me opening a few apps like settings and YouTube.
