Google calendar loading blank screen

Bizarre issue here with google calendars.

When I hide the sidebar in google calendars, my calendar completely disappears (not just the events, but the calendar layout itself) and all I'm left with is a blank white page (see screen grab below). With the full view in google calendar, everything looks perfectly normal.

I'm using Safari. I've never had this issue before with safari. I just wiped my hard drive and re-installed a new copy of El Capitan (10.11.6).

Anyone else had this issue?
