how to download apps on 1st gen ipad

Hello! I currently have a 1st gen ipad running Ios 5.1.1. Because I factory reset it, I am unable to log in into the store, as it keeps giving me a message, "The requested action requires the latest version of iOS". I want to download some old versions of apps and games on the ipad. Could there be a work around this?

The 1st Gen Ipad I use runs on iOS 5.1.1 and it is a silver one.

Thanks!

I have NO IDEA why you cannot login into the App Store with your Apple ID and password.

I just logged into the App Store today, with my 2010 iPad, using my Apple ID and password, to download two older versions of apps I have and use on my newer iPad models.

If you need apps for that iPad, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer has left an older, compatible version on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt.

FYI,

Not every app you attempt to download will have an iOS 5.1.1 compatible version. For older apps that may still have an older iOS version available, the lowest compatible iOS version of an app is iOS 4.2.1.

The search for iOS 5.1.1 compatible apps will be trial and error, but they are out there.

My 2010, iPad 1 has over 100 apps on it that are still functioning, but older versions of apps that I currently run on my newer iPad models.

Good Luck!

That means that there is no longer any older version of that app any longer on Apple’s app servers.

Take a look at the old apps link I supplied.

That web link is for a website that lists possible apps still available for iOS 5.1.1.

Like I stated, not every available app, in Apple’s App Store will have an older version of an app still available.

Having older apps still available on Apple's App Store servers is both up to developer and, also, at Apple’s discretion.

Good Luck to You!

Are you trying to open the iOS App Store?

I have a 1st gen, 2010 iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and I can still get into the App Store.

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

I can go into the App Store, but I am unable to download apps because my OS is 5.1.1. Plus, I’m signed out of the store and trying to log in gives me the message “The requested action requires the latest version of iOS.” So what I’m trying to do is to download some apps with last comparible version on this IPad.

I see this notice.

Why are trying to login into the App Store via the Settings app?

You go into the App Store via the icon on your iPad's home screen.

Once in, you look for a compatible app, attempt to download the app, if a dialogue box comes up that tells you that you can install/update to an older compatible version, you tap OK, then another pop-up window appears where you put in your password for your Apple ID.

You shouldn't have to anything from the Settings app to access the iOS App Store.
