how to delete hidden folders from iCloud
I have uninstalled Autodesk SketchBook a long time ago but it is still has a hidden folder in iCloud. How can I delete it?
MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13)
Yes, but I am disable the iCloud drive on all my devices the hidden folders will still be present there, in the cloud.
Let' say I go and buy only new devices, as soon as I enable the iCloud drive these preference files will be recreated on my devices.
And there is no way to delete these hidden preference folders without enabling the iDrive on a Macbook and enable seeing hidden files, but once you enable this a local copy will be made on your drive. And when deleting these hidden folders from Finder they will be recreated instantly from the local copy.
Do you get my point?

I hope your persistence gets a result, mine is now all used up. Good luck. 🙂
It seems other people had the same problem:

One can see that it is the bird daemon which handles this synchronization. There is an utility called brctl but you cannot stop this daemon, at least temporary so that one can clean the orphaned folders
Unfortunately I don't like anything related to Microsoft or Google, also I don't trust them from a security/privacy point of view. Yes, iCloud drive has some issue. There is a command line utility which provides greater control of what's happening, called "brctl", but for the moment it lacks the functionality to delete orphaned hidden folders. I just hope some day Apple will improve this.
Thanks for that brctl command. Didn’t know about it 😉 Is there any chance to fix my problem with this util ? Every time I upload something or delete, it doesn’t reflect to my available storage on iCloud. It drives me mad, I’ve spoke to Apple Support, and they are going to wipe my iCloud Drive so I can start from brand new iCloud Drive without this crazy hidden folders and any other leftovers.
Just to inform other is someone finds this post later. Due to a recent change in my cloud account done by Apple now everything works correctly. Third party app folders are no longer hidden and can be deleted.
Just move it into the Trash 🙂
I doesn't work, it is recreated in an instant
This means that some components of the software you tried to remove are still running and re-creating the folder.
Can you delete it from the iCloud website?
No, because you cannot see hidden files/folders in the web interface.
For it to be recreated (as getanger said) some part of Sketchbook must still be present and apparently working. Until you remove that the issue will not go away.
Hopefully this can help: http://macuninstallguides.com/remove-autodesk-sketchbook-7-1-1-on-mac.html
Delete the files with care!
Thanks but I already did that. There are not leftover from my SketchBook installation if I disable the iCloud Drive. As soon as I enable it the files are recreated.
How would it be possible for Apple devices to automatically create folders for 3rd party apps that do not even exist on your Mac. That is something I would dearly like to know.
