What type of a wireless network (radio bands) are you using? .68 works better with 802.11ac. .73 may work with 802.11n, but causes issues with 802.11ac APs. If you have a mixed 2.4/5G network, the channel bandwidth setting on the APs can also make a difference.
For 2017 MBPs, BC 5.x drivers do not work. They are meant for W7/W8.1 only. If you need the latest drivers for your Mac, use a USB2 flash drive and
Windows will nto install an older driver, unless you uninstall the card, remove all drivers from the DrvStore and disable Windows Automatic Updates.
What is the current version of Bootcamp driver used by your WiFi card?
What is the year/model of your Mac (do not post the serial number of your Mac)?
When you visit the Uni next time, from the macOS side, Alt+Click on the WiFi icon after being connected, and use a timed Grab screen to post a screen shot. It may be helpful to know what the working RF environment looks like.
802.11n on 2.4G should work with .73. What is the channel width set to - 20 Mhz or 40Mhz or higher? You can use Acrylic WiFi on the Windows side to check.
If you want to really dive into this, you will need tools like Wireshark and over-the-air packet captures to check why the drivers behave differently. The .73 driver is better suited to 5G networks. I still use the .68 driver at home, with 802.11ac APs. I refuse to upgrade to .73 on Windows.
The macOS drivers are much better overall in terms of their management of radio resources than anything on Windows (.68 or .73).
Do you have BT/WiFi collaboration enabled?
I already did that but for some reason after installation it doesnt show up in device manager that ive installed them
after a reboot in win 10 it shows again the newest driver for the wifi which is the slow one. Are there any other option or maybe im not installing the old driver properly?
i think the easiest solution is to get myself a router capable of 802.11ac because in the university the connection is stable with those drivers and extremely fast. At home my old and cheap router can only output 802.11n and that seams to be the problem since without touching the wifi drivers i get at uni stable and fast connection but at home its not even stable. I should get the new router tomorrow and then Ill keep you informed if the issue has been resolved. As to the channel width i tried all and nothing changed.
Now after i checked i see that both my home router and the uni network are 802.11n connection. The only difference is that the uni one is 5GHZ and my one is 2.4. Could this be the reason that the stability and speed at home is almost non existent?
I will most likely just run the 5Ghz band and ac when i setup the router and see how windows behaves then. If it creates a problem again I will start circling all the possibilities until i get it to work. If there are still problems I will write here agian. Thanks for your help
The newest MacBook pro
Currently I'm running driver version 7.35.118.73 but before I've tried 7.35.118.68 and they both start good and then after couple of mins go completely down or extremely slowly
how do i check my radio bands? It also disconnects and connects me from my wifi as it picks the speed up and down like a wave.
