Auto sleep/wake when in a case IPad Pro 10.5 2017

I have a case, the third I have tried. All of them shut down the IPad and make it restart when I close/open the case lid. I had an IPad Air 2 and it just sleep/wake, now I cannot get this feature to work. Is a magnet wrong? After trying three different cases, I realized that it probably is the IPad, not the case. I see in questions the Display - auto-lock on/off feature. I have that option. I have tried both the selection and unselection of this feature, and yet the cases always shut the IPad down. I don’t want this. I want to Sleep/wake the IPad when I close the cover. Restarting the Ipad each time can’t be good, it actually has frozen doing this and I had to do a hard restart. Help.

Hi. I don't believe the magnetic lock feature can shut the iPad down (power off).

Is the case maybe pressing on the Sleep button on the top edge of the iPad?

Are these cases specifically made for iPad Pro 10.5?

Turns out it was hardware. I went to an apple store and they couldn’t fix it, so I got a new iPad. Now i have no problems. It wasn’t the cases or the settings, it was the hardware.

The same thing happened to me.

iPad Pro 10.5

I was using the same cover for 6 months, not a single problem. Suddenly it started restarting and crashing.

I reset to factory settings and it is still causing the problem.

I tried without the cover and it tends not to be any problem.

As soon as I get the iPad inside the cover it starts restarting again.

Either something failed inside (like hardware) or the latest update is causing it.

Thanks but yes, the case is for my exact size and model and it isn’t on the power button. In fact I just tried another case and it shut it down. Out of a case and when I turn it over, nothing. This lets me know it is something with the cas magnets. So trying to figure out why they cause shut down restart, not sleep. Plus if I leave it closed in a case I even think it keeps retrying and retrying bc I left it like that fully charged, came back and it was out of power. Do I have a bad iPad?
