Can I use my iPhone 7 as an iPod without a sim?

I would like to use an old iPhone 7 as an iPod. Do I need a SIM

card?

You need a SIM card to activate every iPhone. But that SIM need not be actively associated with any cellular service.


Once activated, you can use an iPhone effectively as an iPod Touch without a SIM in it (I.e. once activated, you can remove the SIM).
