AppleTV 4K 4:4:4 Chroma?
Apple TV 4K plays 4K UHD content at the original 4K @ 24hz frame rate with HDR10 dynamic range, but only does so at 4:2:2 Chroma (12-bit), and wont go to 4:4:4. Is this a bug? The HDMI 2.0 spec provides for 4K24 4:4:4. My BlueRay player supports 4K24 at 4:2:2 (12-bit) or 4:4:4 (10-bit), user selectable, so why doesn't AppleTV support this part of the HDMI 2.0 spec?
Note that (as I understand it) the original content is subsampled at 4:2:0 (BluRay and streaming), but of course 4K24 4:2:0 is not part of the HDMI 2.0 spec, so the choices are 4:2:2 or 4:4:4.
Anybody have any idea whats up with this?
