How to reduce iPhone file size

How do I reduce the file size of a photo on my iPhone X? I am trying to upload a photo, and get an error message that the file size needs to be under 8 MB.

I was uploading a photo from my iPhone X to an online app. I got an error message from the app that my photos’ file size was too large to upload.

Email the photo to yourself from your iPhone, and after hitting "Send" you should get a dialogue box:-

This was produced in my 6s, so the sizes on offer will be different on your X. Select a reduced size, and send.

Open the email on your iPhone, and save the reduced-size file, then upload that one to the site.

That is what I did. I was hoping there was a way that was a bit faster within the iPhone, specifically in photos or the camera.
