The item "xxxxx.xxx"is can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format

Ever since I updated my macbook air to macOS high sierra and changed the file system to apfs, I have been unable to copy all files that are larger than 1GB to my pendrives. I thought it is was a problem with the pendrive, so i bought a new 32GB pendrive and tried to copy a 3GB iso file on to it. It still says the same. This what it said: "The item “Windows2.iso” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume’s format."I never had this issue in previous macOS versions. What can I do ???

There is a bug in High Sierra's Finder that prevents a file over 2GB to be copied to a FAT32 drive. You have to copy the file using the Terminal.

Open the Terminal, type "cp" without the quotes, then a space, drag the file into the Terminal window, then drag the volume you want to copy to into the window. Hit return. Be patient it takes awhile. Wait for the $ to appear.

The issue being discussed in this thread applies to FAT32 only.

Hi Countrygirl,

are there problems with fat 32 only, or are there problems with exfat volumes too?

I experienced that files near 64 gb simply disappear on exfat volumes, and that the volume is corrupted after this.

I use the exfat volume to transfer / share files between osx high sierra 10.13.2 and bootcamp win 10 on my mac pro 2010.
