How to show cursor in projector in Keynote slideshow view?

Thanks Gary for your response, I have did as you mentioned above, but same issue still exist. I have contacted customer services from Apple China, they said this is designed, that is to say this issue is tool function limitation, I have to switch to PPT if since we need this function.

I want see the cursor in Presenter Display to point something I want to show/point to my students, when I have a lecture to my students, sometimes I need make the students focus on some points in projector, follow my thought etc.

this is a very important function I need in my situation, but unfortunately Keynote don't provide this function and PPT does.

I really appreciate for your answers to my posts and questions, hope Keynote can consider add these function in future version(show cursor both in 2 screens, with same animation in 2 screens, that is to say exactly same between 2 screens but in Presenter Display model then I can see the Notes in each slides), thank you Gary.

You will also see many similar history requests about this function(show cursor in mirror in 2 screens), hope Apple can give more attention on this! I see about 10 yeas ago someone have request this function but Apple did nothing about this.

Thanks for your reply, Gary, yes I have set above “Show pointer when using the mouse or trackpad”, don't connect anything except HDMI with a projector, and when we use Powerpoint this function is OK. When the cursor moves in MacBook screen and the same cursor will also do same move in mirror in PPT, but don't works in Keynote.

Great, thanks Gary for your detailed reply, I totally got your meaning of what you mentioned, yes when show Presenter Display and don't use Mirror Displays in display setting, the projector will show as an extended display, for example in right of the main screen in Macbook, what I want:

In Presenter Display and don't use Mirror Displays, I need the keynote slide in Presenter Display are exactly same with projector screen, that is to say 2 slides in 2 displays are in mirror, include the cursor. Since when I give a lecture to my students, it is better to use Presenter Display then I can see slide notes, and when I move cursor to point something in Macbook, I hope the cursor can move in Projector synchronously in mirror, if not I have to move the cursor into projector and then my sight have to move to projector too, but the projector is in my back you may know, this is very inconvenient I have to have my sight moved between Macbook and projector Back and forth. And this function in powerpoint is fine.(2 screens are exactly same and in mirror, all actions and shows are same and synchronized.)

Only 2 options I can choose if use Keynote:

1. use Mirror Displays in setting as you pasted, make "Mirror Displays" selected, and projector screens will be exactly same with macbook screen, but this can't use Presenter Display in keynote and I can't see slide notes.

2. Don't use Mirror Displays but make projector as a extended display, in this I can use Presenter Display in keynote but cursor can't be existed at same time in 2 screens. (PPT can do this function very well.)

What I need is Presenter Display and the cursor can exist at same time in mirror in 2 screens(Macbook screen and projector screen.)

If you want do a lecture to many students (you sitting in the platform and projector are in your back), you may better understand my trouble:)

For your better understanding, What I give lecture to my students are similar like this image:) You will see I face to macbook and projector in my back, it is impossible to let cursor in projector since It is hard to let my sight to move to projector too.

Thanks Gary for your suggestion! Your solution really works, but in actual works we may don't have enough display act as table top display, since I need take lecture not in a fixed place. But the powerpoint works in this function(show a cursor on both the Presenter Display and the Projector at the same time), so currently I have to convert Keynote to PPT format and adjust the layout in my real work to solve this problem, I hope Keynote can consider add this function in future version.
