I'm trying to see the Amazon Prime app on my Apple TV. I believe the Model number is MC572LL/A. Not sure if this one is compatible to have the Amazon Prime App. When I go to Software Updates it states I have the latest software.

That model number is for an ATV 2nd Generation. It doesn't support the downloading of apps. So, no, you can't get Amazon Prime Video on that device.
Amazon Prime is available on the 3rd Generation Apple TV as a channel. Its automatically pushed from the server, no update required.
It is not available on older Apple TVs unfortunately.
For 4th Gen and 4K Apple Tvs, its just an App download from the store.
Yup. The ATV 2 did not get the Prime Channel as far as I know, no.

I have a 3rd gen ATV, recently (not exactly sure when) it grew a gateway to Amazon Prime, no download involved, a system update did it. Is the gen 2 not the same?
Thank you, I didn't think it would work but I saw on more than one site that it worked on ATV 2 so I didn't understand why mine wasn't working. Using airplay, but that's a pain to tie up multiple devices.
Well, then, I am mistaken. I was under the impression that only the versions of the ATV that could download apps were able to access it. If a software update gave it to you, that's great. In that case, it should work for the OP.
I did not download it, it arrived all by itself one day. I assume it was from a tvOS update. If the ATV3 gets any better it will be as good as my TV is.
So not the ATV 2 (which seemed pretty much the same as the ATV 3 to me)? If not, then, my answer to the OP was right for the wrong reasons.
