well in pro i think theres a helper plugin thats named BPM counter that tells you the tempo of the song and i was hoping there was something like that in express because i couldnt find it where someone in another thread said it was in pro.
Not exactly what you are looking to do, but check out the following:
1) You can see and adjust tempo and time signature from the large transport bar.
2) You can add another tempo view to your arrange window by choosing VIEW→GLOBAL TRACK COMPONENTS→TEMPO from the pull down menu in the arrange window.
3) You can also get a window with a list of tempo and time signatures used in a song by choosing OPTIONS→TEMPO→TEMPO LIST from the main menu bar.

this was going along with the slow down the imported song thing so the tempo it showed in logic wasn't the real tempo of the song. But I did find a little freeware widget that works fine so im all set. Thanks for the posts.
