how to delete this move/calories data point?

Hi!

I’ve got a Apple Watch S3 Cellular - purchased it on January 8, and using mostly for activity tracking.

Got the following problem: the Health app on iPhone shows that I have burned a large amount of calories on January 7, one day before I started using the watch. I have no idea where this data is coming from. But I want to delete it, because it looks like this data point is what the activity app is using as a reference for the Move record. Will I ever be able to beat 2800 active kcal in a day? Not sure hahahah.

If I tap on Data Sources for that day, it used to show some recorded data from Strava and some other apps on that day. I deleted everything I could, but this 2791 kcal are still there. The only data source which can still be seen is Apple Watch, but there doesn’t seem to be an option to delete that.

How do I delete these 2791 kcal from January 7?

thanks!

Hi

The following steps may help:

  • On your iPhone, in the Health app, go to: Health Data (tab) > Activity > Active Energy > Show All Data.
  • Select 7 January (you may need to wait for data to listed).
  • To remove all data for that day: tap on Edit (upper-right) > Delete All (upper-left) > Done (upper-right).

If the issue persists, then one option is completely remove all historic Activity and Health data from your iPhone and to start afresh.

Important: note that this process involves the permanent loss of all sensitive data on your iPhone and Apple Watch, including historic Health and Activity data, HomeKit data and saved passwords:

Unpair your Apple Watch:

Make an unencrypted backup of your iPhone:

Restore your iPhone as new (ie to factory settings) using iTunes:

After the Restore completes, during setup, restore your iPhone from the unencrypted backup:

Pair your Apple Watch, either restoring your Apple Watch from backup or setting it up as a new watch, as desired:

Hi! Thanks, this is basically what you’d expect to do the trick... unfortunately it doesn’t help, there is no active calory data from January 7 in that menu. It makes sense, I paired and activated the watch on January 8... this looks to me like a bug in the watch OS and/or the Health/Activity apps, not sure where.. 🤔 but guess it is somehow related to the activation..
