iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not send a message to the device

iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not send a message to the device. I kept getting this message from iTunes. Restarted new purchased iPhone 7, restarted iMac OS X 10.7.5 , changed cables, try different USB ports. Current version iTunes 12.2.2 installed. Trust computer checked. Home sharing on both devices ok. Phone device not appearing on HD or iTune. Photos transfer ok to iMac ok, just not able to connect iPhone to the iTunes on my iMac. Please help!

In case anyone had the same problem. Turns out I had to upgrade my iMac OS X 10.7.5 to El Capitan first then to High Sierra. With OS X El Capitan and iPhone 7 (updated version 11.2.5), the iTunes can be connected and works fine. I will double the upgrade to High Sierra just to get the most updated OS available. For those who needs to go down this road, the whole process will take many hours. So do it when you have a spare day off, as you won't be able to use your computer at all.
