trying to connect iphone 6s to macbook pro, getting following iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not send a message to the device.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.1

Trust computer checked. Home sharing on both devices ok. Phone device not appearing on HD or iTune. Photos transfer ok to iMac ok, just not able to connect iPhone to the iTunes on my iMac. Please help!

iTunes on the Mac?
