MacBook Air 2011 battery replacement

HI all

I just discovered that the cost of replacing the battery in my apparently 'vintage' MacBook Air 2011 ranges between a staggering £175 to a completely ludicrous £265!!

Please excuse me as I just fell off my chair.

I bought this in Jan 2012, unfortunate timing just before the later models came out and now I'm pretty darned furious at these profiteering prices for such an apparently minor thing.

I was never a big fan of the whole sealed batteries design. Preferred the old removable ones and now my worries have been realised. Sure Apple promise to replace them for a while but hey presto the moment you actually need them doing 'sorry sir its vintage you need to go to an authorised third party repairer and pay an extravagant fortune to replace the battery!

The battery has only had 159 cycles:

Charge Remaining (mAh):4627
Fully Charged:No
Charging:Yes
Full Charge Capacity (mAh):4854

Cycle Cou

Cycle Count:159
Condition:Service Battery

Anyone know of any way to get this done for a reasonable amount, by which I mean under £100?

Many thanks

Phil

The nature of electronics and batteries is to wear out, and your system is 6 years old. While some batteries can last longer not all do and there are a number of factors that can attribute to their condition.

If the UK has laws to protect consumers you would need to identify if those laws apply and how to about pursuing that option.

The device is out of warranty so if you decide to go with a outfit that is not authorized to do this work proceed at your own risk.
