'Server not responding' for aol using Iphone6

I keep getting error messages that my imap.aol.com is not responding using my iPhone

I know the account and password is correct in mail settings. (It works on second iPhone and on computer.

Imap looks correct on this phone and all mail setting look exactly the same on the phone getting error message and phone that is working for email.

I deleted my email account and tried to reset it as well and that did not fix the problem.


I did try safari to connect to internet: while it connects to other websites, it will not open log in to aol.com

Which apps require application-specific passwords?

Apps that require an app password include:

mobile Mail apps: iPhone / Android / Windows and others


I believe you will need to generate an application-specific password for this iPhone 6 to allow it to connect. This help article from AOL shows you how to do this: AOL Mail: Mobile Mail


If you have trouble setting up the application-specific password within AOL, please ask the email provider AOL for assistance.
