After HD loss, tried to restore from backup library, and it says "Final Cut Pro library 'cannot be found in its original location.'"
Hello!
I am working with FCPX 10.4.
A huge chunk of my Final Cut Pro working data--consolidated libraries containing original media--was stored on an external hard drive, which died. I realized that the Final Cut Pro backups folder, stored in the Movies folder on my macbook pro, contains all these handy backup libraries.
My main question here, with details and screenshots below, is: these backup libraries seem to exist--Show Package Contents seems to contain all the event/project names and "CurrentVersion.fcpevent" files; and yet when I try to open any of the libraries, it "cannot be found in its original location". It would help me to understand what exactly is stored in these library files--because I have the original media of all my projects stored in other locations (I left copies in the original locations when I brought the media into my libraries in the first place), so I was just hoping that I could recover the Project files so I don't have to start over on all my editing!
So, to go the step by step: when I go into my MacintoshHD Movies>Final Cut Backups and try to open any of these libraries that were originally created, stored and worked on from the now-dead external HD, I get this progression of dialogues:
Selecting Backup to open:
and this pops up:
Upon clicking Save to select a new location, I go to find the same library in the Backups folder:
And ta-da, it's nowhere to be found. Should I be saving it somewhere else?
This same library when I open up the Package Contents looks like this:
What's going on in that CurrentVersion.fcpevent file??
When I try to open the library from within Final Cut Pro, the same thing happens.
Very confusing--Please help me understand what's happening, and if there's any way to get my editing work back from these backups! Thanks.
