Watch keeps disconnecting from phone

Hi,

I have a new apple watch and an iPhone X. Every few days or so the watch disconnects from the phone. The only way I can connect it again is by turning the watch on and off again so I am getting rather fed up with this happening. When this happens the battery seems to drain down really fast too. Is there a more permanent solution other than restarting the watch? Switching buetooth on and off doesn't work, not does setting airplane mode etc.

I can see similar questions going back years. Surly there must be a solution by now?
