allow gmail to get access of files stored in phone memory

How to allow gmail to access files in phone memory. I am not able to reply an email where i had to attach a doc which I have in my phone memory. When i attach a file from gmail it shows only Gdrive and photo to upload files from. Not "files" where i have my document stored. Does anyone have any idea ?

Thank you

I am using gmail app

The built in Mail app doesn't let you add any attachments to a reply that as best I can tell. So, the fact that Gmail lets you add anything is a step up.

Move the file to your Google Drive before starting the reply. Tap on the file in Files. Tap the Sharing icon and select the Google Drive icon (assuming you have it installed on your phone).
