How do I import my Lightroom catalogue into Photos?

With adobe going subscription-based I've decided to get all my pictures back into Photos. Is there a way to import from Lightroom so that the metadata is not lost? I understand that any photo editing completed in Lightroom will be lost, which is another reason I'm heading back to Apple Photos with plugins (Luminar). At least I won't have to play this lost catalogue dance anymore!
