How do I found out what the “media” is in my iPad storage, when the list of apps taking up space does not show me clearly?

My iPad Pro storage suddenly shows a huge amount of storage devoted to “media” but the list of apps underneath do not show anything even close to that amount of space being taken up by anything. And the suggestions have nothing to do with media and would not recuperate more than 5% of what is missing. How do I figure out what is taking up all the space and how to get rid of it?
