FaceTime Preference Greyed Out

I have been using FT on my MacBook Pro with no problem until yesterday. High Sierra 10.13.2

At first, it told me it couldn't activate. I can see myself in the app. Then it didn't like my p/w and a window about icloud password would pop up. So I resolved the icloud p/w issue. Now FT won't open but I see myself. But there is just that spinning white thing that looks like it's trying to connect and can't. Went to FT preferences and now it's greyed out.

I've searched for a fix but can't find anything current. Thanks
