I plan to begin building out the home with smart devices beginning with light bulbs in various places in the house. However, I get different information requiring how to get it all to work from outside the house. My question is with an Apple TV 4K as a gateway do I also require the Philips Hues hub to access devices from outside the house or is Apple TV 4K able to do this?

And btw you do not need the Apple TV if you just want to control the Hue bulbs.
The Philips Hue app allows for control of the Hue hub and bulbs over the internet.
But HomeKit- and Siri- integration is definitely cool!
Note: I have an Apple TV 4K and Philips Hue HomeKit-compatible hub and bulbs
I believe the HomePod can be a HomeKit bridge and therefore replace the Apple TV for HomeKit remote access purposes.
But not the Hue hub.

Also from my understanding the new Apple HomePod can act as a bridge/hub as well rather than the Philips bridge. Is my understanding correct?
